The honest version first, which is how we do things here: the BLU Remote Control ZB and the Shelly Plus RGBW PM can be used together, but not the way the remote works with a Dimmer Gen3. The RGBW PM is a Plus device, and that changes what you can expect. Here's the clear picture so you can decide.
What works and what doesn't

The remote transmits over Bluetooth and the RGBW PM, which has a BLE gateway, receives it fine. That part's good. What changes is how it obeys:
- Works: the remote's buttons, through scenes. You can turn on, turn off and fire colour moods.
- Doesn't work (via the app): the brightness wheel, channel switching and automatic button mapping.
The reason is specific: Default Command Mapping — the thing that on the Dimmer Gen3 assigned the wheel and channels automatically — is a Gen3, Gen4 and Pro feature, and today Shelly confirms it for relays, shutters and dimmers. Plus devices don't have it, and on colour (RGBW) controllers it isn't available yet. The RGBW PM acts as a gateway and responds to the buttons via scenes, but the wheel and channels are out if you work with the app alone.
What you can do: moods on the buttons

The pattern that works beautifully is «one button, one mood». You create one scene per button in the Shelly Smart Control app, with the remote's button as the trigger and the RGBW PM doing whatever you want. For example:
- Button 1: warm white at 100%.
- Button 2: movie mode, dim and warm.
- Button 3: party colour.
- Button 4: off.
One important note: the remote has no colour picker. On its own it only sends «on/off» and «brightness up/down». Colour is defined in each scene, not on the remote. So the natural approach is to prepare a few moods and assign one to each button.
Three ways, depending on how much you want

Depending on how much of the remote you want, there are three paths:
- Scenes (the basics): simple, from the app. One button, one scene. Buttons only: no wheel, no channels.
- Scripting (for full RGBW): the RGBW PM supports scripts. A script can listen to the remote's events — including the wheel — and act on them, recovering smooth dimming and channel logic. It requires writing mJS. The Shelly Pro RGBWW PM is the best platform for this route (Pro, Ethernet, more channels), though it still needs a script.
- Wheel with no code: the remote's automatic mapping is confirmed only for relays, shutters and dimmers (for example, the Dimmer Gen3), not for RGBW controllers. If you want the wheel with no code, that's its home turf.
Plainly: to dim an RGBW strip with the wheel, the reliable route today is scripting — on the Plus RGBW PM or, as a better platform, the Pro RGBWW PM. If button moods are enough, scenes cover you with no fuss. And if the wheel «just working» is what you're after, its natural place is a dimmer or a shutter, not a colour controller.
Before you set it up

- The wheel won't dim with the app and a Plus device. To recover it you need scripting.
- Channels aren't distinguished in scenes, so you can't drive four different zones from this remote with a Plus.
- Colour goes in the scene, not on the remote: prepare your shades as moods.
- Wheel with no code? Only with relays, shutters and dimmers (the confirmed mapping), not with RGBW.
None of this takes away the RGBW PM's value as an LED-strip controller with power metering: it's excellent at its job. The note is only about what to expect from the remote with it.
FAQ
Can I control the Plus RGBW PM with the remote, yes or no?
Yes, via the buttons and through scenes: on, off and firing moods. What you won't get with the app is the brightness wheel or channel switching, because those are Default Command Mapping features, which the Plus doesn't have.
Why did the wheel work with the Dimmer Gen3 but not here?
Because the Dimmer Gen3 is a Gen3 dimmer, and the automatic mapping is confirmed exactly for dimmers (plus relays and shutters). The RGBW PM is Plus and, on top of that, a colour controller — a category that isn't in that mapping today. It's not a fault, it's how far the feature reaches.
Do I need a BLU Gateway?
No. The RGBW PM has its own BLE gateway, so it receives the remote directly.
How do I recover the wheel?
With a script on the RGBW PM that listens to the remote's events. The Pro RGBWW PM is a better platform for that script (Pro, Ethernet), but it also needs coding: Shelly's automatic mapping doesn't cover RGBW controllers, only relays, shutters and dimmers.
Can I change colour from the remote?
Not directly: the remote has no colour picker. Define each colour in a scene and assign it to a button.
Does this apply to any Plus device?
Yes, the same holds for Plus devices in general: they act as a gateway and respond to buttons via scenes, but not to the automatic mapping with wheel and channels.
Summary
- The RGBW controller with metering → Shelly Plus RGBW PM
- The 4-channel remote with wheel → BLU Remote Control ZB (also in black)
- Best platform for the scripting route → Shelly Pro RGBWW PM
- Wheel with no code (for dimmable light, not colour) → Shelly Dimmer Gen3
