Many basic systems try to turn on the pool pump directly with a small smart relay. This is a serious mistake. During pump startup, an initial current spike is generated that is so brutal that not even a standard Shelly relay designed for 16 Amperes can withstand it continuously; its internal contacts end up fusing and the device is irreparably damaged.

Our approach is 100% professional: we delegate the heavy lifting. The brain of the system (Shelly EM Gen3) uses its dedicated output to activate the existing contactor in your electrical panel. The use of the contactor absorbs the full impact of the motor, indefinitely extending the life of the Shelly and preventing breakdowns. The contactor takes the hit, the Shelly provides the intelligence.
