Shelly has three dimmers in the Gen3 range and they don't compete with each other. Each one speaks a different language with the fixture, so the choice is almost never a matter of budget: it's a matter of what your installation accepts.
The three, side by side
Shelly Dimmer Gen3: the domestic one
It dims the bulb directly, with no intermediate driver, via trailing-edge phase control. It handles up to 150 W in LED and 200 W in incandescent or halogen.
Its big advantage is that it works without a neutral wire, which solves the typical older Spanish installation where the switch box has no neutral. It's the only one of the three that manages this.
In exchange: it doesn't measure consumption, and below 20 W you'll need a bypass.
Choose it if: you want to dim dimmable 230 V bulbs in a home.
Shelly Dimmer 0/1-10V PM Gen3: the most complete
It controls drivers with an analog input, not bulbs. It's the only one of the three that measures consumption (voltage, current and active power) and the only one with Matter as standard.
It includes a relay output, and that's no mere extra: with 1-10 V drivers the minimum signal leaves the light on at around 10 %, so the relay is what achieves the real switch-off.
It needs neutral and a driver with Dim+ and Dim− terminals.
Choose it if: your fixture has a 0-10 V driver and you want consumption measurement.

Shelly DALI Dimmer Gen3: the gateway
It connects an existing DALI installation with the Shelly ecosystem. It has its own bus power supply for about 5 drivers.
Its important limitation: it controls the bus by broadcast, as a single group. It doesn't create groups or address fixtures separately, and it dims brightness but not color temperature.
Choose it if: you already have DALI fixtures and want to control them from Shelly or Home Assistant.

What none of the three does
It's worth saying plainly: none of them dims fixtures separately. All three act on the group they control. If you need individual control, the solution is to install one dimmer per circuit.
And none of them turns a non-dimmable fixture into a dimmable one.
Frequently asked questions
Which do I choose if my installation has no neutral?
The Dimmer Gen3, the only one that works without it. Remember the bypass if the load is below 20 W.
Which one measures consumption?
Only the 0/1-10V PM Gen3.
Can I switch from one to another if I get it wrong?
It's not a matter of configuration: each technology needs different wiring. Check what your fixture accepts before buying, in the guide on how a light is dimmed.
What if I want to dim 24 V LED strips?
None of the three. Strips are dimmed by PWM and need a specific controller.
Is there a DIN-rail version?
Yes, the Shelly Pro Dimmer 2PM, also phase-control, for panel mounting.
